There is also a weird loop during the drops but it is so low you have to actively listen for it to notice it. The mastering is completely out of wack and there is some faint distortion during the breaks. Well this one escaped reasonably undamaged. I don’t know what the fuck happened here but really? REALLY!?! Complete pisstake. If that claim is true he put on some serious accent. He said so during a Quora AMA type session.

Like seriously what the actual fuck is this?! According to Tim himself (Avicii) he sings the verses. Yeah, what can I say? This is an absolute piss in the face to anyone who heard the pre release version. Maybe this will change since it is becoming one of the most popular songs on the album. The vocal and the instrumental sound so separated. Removed reverb and what not from the synths and the vocal making it sound so fucking bad. Listen to the pre release version and you will understand. Radio cut? The second half of the beat was cut out and made the song so much less interesting. Is the exact same from before release but who cares? It is a nice song but it is kind of dull.

The piano was pretty much cut out and the “beaom beaom” beat is just, I don’t know, bad. Official version, Bpm lowered to 110 and the key went with it. This song was originally running at 120 bpm with a quite “filling” and rich piano in the beginning.

If you compare it to the live version it seems as if he downmixed the high frequencies making it sound more “muffled”. However, the official version was lowered to 122 but the key was kept more or less the same. Was originally running at a standard 128 BPM. It could also be that since it was going to become such a big hit (how would they really know though?) it was kept in a listenable state. I guess it wasn't possible to convince Martin that screwing his fans over was the way to go. This track is a collaboration with Martin Garrix so it remained unchanged. For some reason I will now list all that he changed for the Stories release. True Believer is probably the one that was screwed up the most. There is at least one thing per song (mostly) that he fucked up, spoiling some of the completely. He ALWAYS changes something for the worse when a track is released, unless it is an upcoming super hit (Wake Me Up, You Make Me, Hey Brother etc.) With Stories however it is a different Story. I'm not too good with Reddit formatting lol Really nice production quality and lots of really catchy melodies that Avicii is always known for making.ĮDIT: Sorry I didn't mean for that to be bold. I really enjoyed the song! I was a big fan of True and this album lives up to it IMO. After all, it's about what the artist thinks sounds good and what their vision for the song is, not what everyone else wants to hear. I thought Chris's vocals sounded better, but maybe Avicii had a different vision for the song and thus chose someone else. So I hope that helped clear that up for you!Ģ) As far as the vocals go, I'm not sure why he changed vocalists. It's usually pretty boring and simple, but that's why most of the time there's a radio version of a lot of these songs so it doesn't have that intro/outro. I'll be happy to explain this for you! So in many Electronic Music songs (more specific, progressive house, which is what this song is more or less like) there is a lot of times where a 30-60 second instrumental intro is thrown in so that it makes the song easier to mix into sets when DJs are playing the song. And I'm not just a butthurt Chris Martin fan, anyone will tell you the live version sounds better.ġ) So for this question, you're upset about the house instrumental in the beginning. ANYTHING would've been better then "I wasn't always the bravest, they say you only live once." DID CHRIS MARTIN JUST WRITE YOLO INTO A SONG. The lyrics were average before but the new vocalist make them seem even worse. The great vocal effects are now removed and makes it sound so shit. He has also removed any vocals from it and now the piano plays the melody, so now it sounds like Chris is playing it on a kids keyboard. There has been removal of reverb on the sound for sure though). In the ending piano bit (3:10 for the live, and 4:26 for album) it seems Avicii has changed the ending piano sound to a shitty preset plugin instead of the obviously better one in the live version (I might be wrong with this, but it sounds worse. ( ) In this live version, Chris' voice is used instead and it sounds fantastic.Īt least Chris' voice is used for the chorus and that's the only good thing about it. Why is there a random house instrumental at the start of the song for no reason? Maybe purely just the lengthen the song.Ĭhris Martin's voice is either extremely altered or replaced with someone to sounds like they are trying to do an english accent. So I'm just gonna go through it bit by bit.
